Optimised Time for Travelling Wave Fault Locators in the Presence of Different Disturbances Based on Real-World Fault Data

چکیده
The real-world travelling wave fault data investigated in this paper indicate disturbances generate unpredictable, non-stationary and random waveforms which may cause maloperation of protection control elements a power system including locators (TWFL). This type locator is directly dependent on the detection an accurate time arrival (ToA) waves (TW) generated by fault. becomes complicated presence when their ToAs are detected earlier than TWs. Since occur high-frequency bands (e.g. >50 kHz), capacitor voltage transformer employed to measure TW signals; involves acquiring current flowing ground removing low-frequency components (50/60 Hz). Disturbances create high magnitude pulses pre-fault section signal that last for short time. Therefore, TWFL starts its computations requires be optimised so effect eliminated. analysis techniques mentioned based data, solution uses statistical tools, such as cost function, mean standard deviation, alongside Digital Signal Processing algorithms.

Fault location remains a challenging problem in order to restore power supply rapidly. In this paper, a novel single-terminal traveling wave fault location procedure is proposed in a radial distribution network. Firstly, the propagating speed of zero mode traveling wave is determined by BP neutral network method. Then the preliminary estimation of fault distance is calculated based on the diffe...
متن کاملFault Location on Transmission Lines Based on Travelling Waves
Automatic and accurate fault location methods for transmission lines may reduce the search time technicians would take to find out where the fault is, leading to a quick recovery of the system. Usually, transient detection techniques use more than one sample of voltage or current to make possible the required transient analysis. This paper presents a very simple method for fault location on tra...
متن کاملFault Tolerant Real Time Systems
Real time systems are systems in which there is a commitment for timely response by the computer to external stimuli. Real time applications have to function correctly even in presence of faults. Fault tolerance can be achieved by either hardware or software or time redundancy. Safety-critical applications have strict time and cost constraints, which means that not only faults have to be tolera...
